As a Man Thinks So Shall He Become

- by Dr. Richard Zzizinga

Preparing for the future and making a plan of action for achieving that future is one of the surest ways available for you to get what you want out of life. There are so many distractions in your life that are begging for your attention, most of these everyday things are just a culmination of repetitive patterns that have come to form the best part of your days.

Have you ever caught yourself doing something while you were thinking about something else and wondering how you got started on that particular thing? Your brain is a fascinating organ. It has so many ways of turning everyday tasks into unconscious repetitive actions.

Just as you breathing in and out is all controlled without you having to even think about it. In the same way, so are your common actions and thoughts. If you have ever made a list of your goals in the past, you would know that once you have written them down on paper and read through them, your goals take on a whole new meaning of their own.

Most of the people you know have experienced this kind of thing around new years. It’s a new year; the festive season is drawing to an end. The feeling to start the New Year on a new page is very strong. Somehow by the end of February most of those important goals are largely forgotten.

Why is that?

I feel it’s because once you have made a list of all the things you want to do differently in your life and of all the things that you would like to achieve. Suddenly it dawns upon you that it is up to you to make those goals a reality. It is that realization that you are responsible for the outcome of your life that can be terrifying if you have to face it on your own.

That is why you see lots of groups to support people who want to give up smoking or loose weight. In a group there is support and you can get feedback from other people about what works and what doesn’t.

Another way of having constant support is to hire a personal coach. By booking regular coaching sessions it’s easier for you to monitor keep on track of where you would like to go as your coach will hold you accountable to your actions and help you monitor your success.

Your personal coach is not there to achieve your goals for you, but is there to offer you support when challenges arise that make you unsure of weather you can achieve your goals.

It is in challenging times that your true character is tested, so don’t be afraid if the road ahead to your goals doesn’t look easy. You are not alone in thinking that there is something better that you can be doing with your life. By understanding that challenges and difficulties are there to test your desire for what you want, it’s easier to find solutions to turning those obstacles into learning curves.

Having the attitude that you can achieve great things in your life is the substance that holds your goals together with your action plan. Attitude is not arrogance. Your attitude towards yourself and your goals is what will determine weather or not your goals will become reality.

Your personal coach creates the environment in each of your sessions, by asking you incisive questions that will bring you into expanded awareness of your unique abilities to create solutions to your challenges. This unique environment where you are relaxed and focused on what you want will help you to find solutions to your challenges.

You do have the answers to all the questions that are asked. You do have the solutions to all the challenges that arise in your life. Realizing these facts is a powerful thing.

What will you do with all this power? On your own you can do a lot of things, by harnessing your talents and finding like minded people who will support you. You can easily create your own support group that you can turn to for friendship, guidance and ideas.

Write down your goals. Put them away for some time. Come back to your list of goals and read through them.

As you read through them, notice what you feel. How would you feel if you actually had right now what it is you have written down as your goal?

Develop the attitude that you would have if you were living those goals. What would you be thinking differently?
